New Format & Scoring System
The Divisional Trial eliminates preset rider classes, making the competition fully open to all skill levels from Novice to Pro while leveling the playing field.
- Points-Based Scoring: Riders tackle flowing, 1980s-style sections featuring 5 optional gates worth 1 point each (earning 0 to 5 points per section). Higher scores win.
- Ride Within Your Ability: There is no single mandatory line. Choose your own path and gate selection through each section based on your comfort and skill level.
- The Dab Rule: When your foot touches the ground, your scoring ends for that section. Navigate or paddle cleanly to the exit gate without crashing or crossing your line to bank the points you earned.
- Divisional Standings: Scores remain confidential until all cards are submitted. The entire field is divided evenly into performance tiers (e.g., Division 1, Division 2, Division 3) based on final scores, giving riders in every tier a legitimate shot at the podium and prize money.
- Tiebreakers: Stopping is permitted in all sections. Total elapsed time on the course serves as the tiebreaker.
